The Islander Apartments

The Islander Apartments, Santa Ana, CA.

Two giant A-frames-- one over the entrance to the complex (with two Tiki poles on the front and back to support the middle of the frame), and one near the pool (with another Tiki pole supporting the middle of the frame). Click on the images to see them larger and close-up!

This is a little, old apartment complex in Santa Ana. Gated, quiet, filled with lush tropical foliage-- why it's a neighborhood Tiki paradise. Your escape to the Islands! I've tried to get into the manager's office to talk about renting one of these apartments several times, but no one ever answers!

Sorry about the hiatus, it was a heck of a semester at school, but now that it's summertime, I'll attempt to be regular in my updates, although I'll be taking another short leave in a few weeks to go to Europe for a month.

This is great! I love "tiki" architecture and always have my eye out for it. I've seen a few places in the Disneyland area (Anaheim, Orange, Fullerton, etc.) that haven't yet been torn down or bulldozed.

Why people don't embrace this stuff I'll never understand.

Man, I love your blog. This is the architecture of my childhood. I was born and raised in Anaheim and even though it was the 70s and early 80s, a lot of this was still standing, especially around Disney Land. Anyhow, keep it up! I can't wait to move back out west.

my grandmum lives right around the corner. i had friends that lived there. the surrounding areas is bad. there are always gang fights at the liquor stores surrounding the apartments. but it sure is pretty.

Can't get enough Tiki in my life, yes, the surrounding area is really shitty, your just up from the Santa Ana Jail and the area has really gone down-hill.It used to be the creme-da-la-creme at one time, but it still manages to hold it's own! More power to it.....

Is this near a beach or a theme park? If so, that'd be great. And I would like to know your deals. I'd be waiting for your reply! Thank you!
